Besides WiFi wireless communication, Bluetooth is well-supported in most mobile equipment. The big advantage is a factor >100 lower power consumption. Further there are many communication profiles that are very useful for use with a X10 Audio System, e.g. listening to music with a Bluetooth Head-set, or Mobile Phone.
In addition there are Bluetooth files-exchange profiles to Up-/download files between the X10 and other Mobile equipment in a secure (encrypted) way.
A future X10 could be equipped with a 'Bluetooth Class I radio' and antennas which provides up to 100 meter range in a convenient way. (the Mobile equipment should have a Class I radio as well, or the range will be lower (e.g. 30 meter).
The current X10 systems could be equipped with a Bluetooth USB mini-dongle and an Firmware-update! to implement Bluetooth for current generation X10 Systems.
