I purchased an X40 in late May, to replace my X12.  After numerous attempts, I have been unable to get the database to install.  I have used the enclosed CD, downloaded the file to a memory stick (both zipped and unzipped), and each time, when the X40 recognizes the file, the next message is "FreeDB Install Fail!"  I have contacted Audio Plus Services, who offers technical support for Cocktail Audio in the U.S., but have yet to hear back from them.

Has anyone in this forum encountered the same problem?  Is there a solution short of sending the unit back?

You don't need to install FreeDB if your X40 has Internet connectivity.

1. i guess you have an formated harddisc inside?
2. Have you installed before a freedb database?
3. I guess, you use the newest firmware and freedb?
